What That Bra Do?

While there are certainly different strokes for different folk, i'd like to address my personal bra struggle and solutions. Since you asked :) 

First of all, let me start off by stating loud and clear that these are no puppies I tote around. These are more like full grown, overweight bulldogs. My current bra size is a 40 H. They have not always 

been this big, but appeared after a rapid weight gain between 2009-2010. I remember being a very content 38 (SINGLE) D and conveniently buying my bras for < $15 in the same spot I bought my toiletries and grocery. Ah, talk about simple times. You don't miss a good thing 'til it's gone. 

The ladies always want to know what's the secret?  How are my girls sitting, so well behaved? What are my suggestions? There is actually no secret, just a few things the plus woman should consider when bra shopping and getting dressed. In MY opinion of course.


1) Heavyduty Straps 
Having supportive straps resting on your shoulders is a very significant feature of a good bra for the voluptuous woman. I have permanent indents in my shoulders left from cheap bras digging in my shoulders. The excessive weight of my breasts just tugging on those flimsy straps were not at all sufficient. For me, good straps are thick in material with adequate width. The bra adjusters should also be bigger than average so that your adjustments will stay put. Having some padding in the strap is additionally beneficial. 

*Making sure your straps are tightened is the best tip I can give, loose straps = loose tits*

2) Padded Cups NOT Needed 
The last thing a girl wearing a "H" cup needs is padded cups. It's the worst. It sometimes makes the bra not fit correctly and maximizes the size of the breasts. The only benefit a busty girl gets from padding is concealing erect nipples. We can and should do without.

3) Durable Back Strap 

A durable back strap is ESSENTIAL. Again, a regular bra has a very delicate back strap that's just not made for us. The average "big girl" has a stubborn back roll that'll eat up a 1/2 inch back strap. A good back strap is about 2-4 inches in width. It will flatten and lay right on top of a minimal roll and provide a smoother look underneath your clothing, as opposed to highlighting this problem area. '

4) Get Your Hooks Up 

The final, most significant feature is the # of hooks it has on the back strap mentioned above. One or two hooks are features of a standard sized  bra and is not sufficient if you wear an extended size. A good bra has has about 4 hooks at the back. Imagine a corset with only 6 hooks going all the way down as opposed to the usual 20+. It's not supporting a thing and would be worn without reason. Same applies here. This feature is vital to the lifting of your breasts. Make sure you have an adequate amount of hooks and that they're all fastened securely. 

I get 100% of my bras from Lane Bryant and/ or Dillard's . The average price of a single unit runs between $30-$70. Good bras are not cheap bras. If you're busty, bras are an investment and something you just have to suck it up & kick out for. I'm currently waiting for LB's semi-annual sale likeeeeeeeeee 0_0 (EDIT: it started today!) 

Needless to say i'm no expert. I sometimes buy a size down to achieve a MEAN cleavage. If it's on sale, i'll sometimes get the wrong (but  very close) size. But, my shoulders don't ache, I don't have a back roll, when I lift my arms my boobs stay inside my bra, I don't have 4 boobs with a shirt on,  they aren't hanging so low that they hide my waistline, and I believe i'm #SittingPretty (considering the fact that these thangs are MASSIVE).
