What is the origin behind your moniker?

Send love! Loving yourself is so important and one can not start living until they do so. I am Beautiful Kendra: here to encourage women to search deep for their beauty. We are all beautiful. The question is, do we all know that? The answer is no. That’s why I’m here to change your beautiful mind.

Describe your signature style.

My signature style is thrifty! It’s truly a love that I can not describe. I love unique and extraordinary pieces. Originality is very important to me. It is how I express myself. I am not trendy and I’m okay with that. I wear what I want, no matter the color, style, fit or opinion of others.

Who/ what is your chief source for fashion inspiration?

My chief source is my mother. Growing up she would wear funky colors, textures and combinations. I would laugh and tease her about being mix-matched and she would hold her head up high and strut even more confidently. And years later, I am just like her. A little leopard here, with a few rainbow colors there, I love it! I am confident and I preach self love. When you love yourself, you can wear a garbage bag and still work the room. I often get stares for my funky attire, but I love it, I just give them a smile and and go about my day. You wear the clothes, the clothes do not wear you. I live by that.

What moved you to launch your blog and/ or website?

The lack of confidence I encountered with every day plus-size women. I would get over 30 emails a day, asking how did I learn to love myself. How did I learn to wear what I wanted without the care of others? How do I find unique clothing? Where does my confidence come from? This saddened me to the core. All women are beautiful and we each have something special about us that stands out. But, until we recognize that, we will always be insecure and searching for acceptance. So, I launched my plus-size clothing store 6 years ago. I wanted to help women feel beautiful, starting on the outside,
because when we look good, we feel good. It’s a great start to finding self love. We no longer have to wear over sized, ugly, expensive clothing. I wanted to prove that curvy women can be stylish and trendy ... all while being affordable.

What are some goals for your brand in 2016?

My first goal is to continue preaching self love, ensuring women that they are worth fighting for. This is why I will be starting a tour. The name of the tour is the “You are Beautiful” tour. I will visit various cities and converse with women about self love, confidence, and topics that are tough to talk about being in the plus-size community. I also will continue, “My Distant Girlfriend”. It’s one-on-one, intimate sessions with me, talking, finding a solution to your turmoil. My website, it will be even greater. I will provide stylish, affordable, unique clothing pieces that will excite you! I will encourage women to think outside of their box and being daring in the new year!

What makes you (and what you do) different/ stand out from the next coach?

My confidence, and my raunchy personality. I can talk about anything, no matter the subject; sex, relationships, marriage, you name it! I am honest, stern and full of personality. And I am always willing to help. Furthermore, I am genuine. Which is not common these days. My clothing is extraordinary and it grabs your attention, which is why I am always sold out of everything.

Name your top pro/ con of being in the public eye.

Pro: Being able to reach so many women who lack self love. The fact that something I’ve done or said encourages them to truly love who they are, that is a true blessing. We are all capable of living with a purpose, but we must first start with us. Con: The fact that people are convinced they are entitled to do and say as they please. Many feel that I should just take the negativity as their opinions, I choose not to. I will not allow anyone to be disrespectful on any of my social media outlets. That goes for myself or a follower. I stand up for myself and I encourage everyone to do the same, always. There are will always be people who disagree with you, and that’s perfectly fine, but when you step over the boundary of opinion to hateful comments, well then my friend, we have a problem.

If you could only shop at 3 places for the rest of your life, where would they be and why?

The Goodwill thrift store, my mother’s closet and my boutique store. They are all unique,
extraordinary and  full of life! I am always able to express my way in a colorful way. I know for a fact if I went to a party, no one would have what I had on. Trends fade, but originality lasts a lifetime.

Describe your most recent, life-changing event.

Having children. After being told a lifetime that I would never have any, to my surprise, I have two beautiful children. They have taught me that I am beautiful, strong, wise and that I am capable of loving like I never have before. They also taught me the true meaning of patience. They gave me beautiful hips, a chunky waist, and even more confidence than I had before. My life will never be the same.

Give us the most important piece of advice you can give to someone wanting to do what you do.

Be yourself.  Be unique and different. Do what others are not doing. Love what you do and never settle for trends. Don’t sell yourself short in place of a few sponsors or pennies. STAND UP
FOR YOURSELF, ALWAYS! Know your worth and work hard until everyone sees the same vision
you see. Believe in your product/service. What are you doing to stand out? I always ask, “What makes you different from the next? Why should I invest in you?”

F R E E B I  E: Tell us anything!

You are beautiful. Own that. Learn that. Teach yourself that your flaws are only insecurities. Once you begin to work on your inner self, your insecurities will be a thing of the past. You’re amazing. You’re worth it. You’re everything that you think you are not. Start living today by accepting yourself and all that you have to offer.
