Holiday OOTD: Going Against the Grain, Casually

Time after time we've heard the unwritten rules of plus-size fashion uttered over and over again. "If you're short avoid maxi dresses, if you're wide, avoid crop tops, black minimizes you, white makes you look bigger, blah, blah, blah". I'm all for the choosing of garments that will accentuate and flow beautifully over your curves, but, on the flipside, I have no problem wearing pieces that (allegedly) aren't "for me".

I usually steer clear of garments that are free flowing over my (overflowing) hourglass physique. They normally make me look wider and completely conceal my curves, not my cup of tea. This high-low piece from Curvaceous Boutique is made of a chic, leather material and glides beautifully in the wind. If you look to cover your stomach and rear, conceal your arms, but show your legs off ... this is definitely a piece for you.

Christmas is next week, and here in Tampa, it is 74 degrees out, so the openness of this piece was fine for today. The theme of my OOTD was casual and dark, with gold accents. My rosary comes from Forever 21, my favorite handbag dripping in chains comes from Rainbow, and my shoes were purchased locally. I topped my look off with an accommodating (dark) plum lip, compliments of Black Radiance Cosmetics.

Hope you enjoyed my holiday look of the day :)
