BRA REVIEWS! (Big Girls and Good Bras Pt. 2)

Name:  Convertible Butterfly Bra
Store: Ashley Stewart
Description: Convertible (can be worn 6 different ways), Strapless
Price: $29.50
Size: 38DDD
Fit, Pros/Cons: This bra was the wrong size, I sometimes can get away with a 38DDD and heard the bra ran big so I went for this option (instead of an undeniable G cup). I could fit it, but it was a little tight. I would recommend going in the store if you are interested in purchasing this piece. There are double-back straps (movable) at the back that eliminate (minor) fat budges for a smooth, polished look. The cups aren't that full, but the lift is pretty good. The bra is pretty bulky in general size and the cups are unnecessarily (and heavily) padded. I hate padding in my bras, it throws off sizing. Plus, I don’t need volume, I need support. The first time I wore it, I needed help getting into it (no joke), and the second time I was severely out of breathe. Fastening all the hooks on the two straps, the bra not sliding around the body easily, and the removable straps popping out of the holes didn't help. The flimsy shoulder straps were kind of awkward, on such a heavy-duty piece. I've been seeing this bra around for a while, and was looking forward to trying it out, but I must say I’m highly disappointed in some of its features.
Purpose: It’s supposed to be for everyday wear, but I would say it’s for underneath a gown, formal dress, or something that cannot have bra straps showing. I don’t see anyone in this bra for an extended period of time; it’s very restricting and uncomfortable.

(French Balconette Shown Underneath Clothing)

Name: Embroidered French Balconette Bra

Store: Lane Bryant

Description: Cacique, Full Coverage, Animal Print Color Option

Price: $40.00 $19.99 on sale!

Size: 38G

Fit: It runs a little bit small because of the structure of the cups (half lace, half “actual bra”/ cotton). I would say to go up one cup size, so that you can get a little more coverage from the actual bra cups, and the lace can serve more as decoration. The band is true to size. I usually like to get a 40G so that I can adjust my band to a comfortable setting, but 38 was my closest option because this piece was on sale. It still fits, but is not as comfortable.

Purpose: This is not an everyday wear type of bra. It is much too fancy with the lace, bows, and bright red satin material (that will show through a lot of shirts). However, I do recommend this piece. It is very supportive, has great lift without even adjusting the straps, and a wide back strap with plenty of hooks. If you are looking for a sassy piece to wear for your own enjoyment or a piece for a sexy night inside, this is it. I would recommend buying this bra as a push-up unit (if you need that type of support) to wear underneath your dresses.

(Cacique sport Bra Shown Under Clothing)

Name:  Sport by Cacique Sport Bra

Store: Lane Bryant

Description: Cacique, Sports Bra, Front Closure, Available in White, Pink, or Black

Price:  $38 - $44

Size: 38G

An accommodating bra designed specifically for excessive activity is a wardrobe staple, however, finding one that will properly support the full-figured frame is a whole ‘nother story. Before this unit, I was wearing a BALI sports bra that was definitely cute (purple!) but needed a regular bra underneath to ensure reinforcement. This sports bra was presented with the promise of “maximum support, however you move” and I would say that the claim is generally factual. I have been wearing this bra for 2 days and I have no significant complaints
Pros/ Features:
·         Extra support for medium impact workouts
·         Hook and eye front closure, 7 snaps
·         Wide band without wire for comfortable, secure fit
·         Lined with Coolmax® for breathability
·         Several color options
·         Smooth even under regular clothing

Personal Cons:
·         Shoulder straps not adjustable

Fit: This bra fits true to size and us very supportive! While the lift isn’t spectacular, that is okay, a sports bra isn’t really meant for lifting the breasts, but holding them securely in place (during extracurricular activity). The material is stretchy yet durable; the wide back strap will completely smooth minimal “back fat” out. This unit’s closure is located on the face of the bra.  Remember I said a good bra usually has about 3-5 hooks (for proper support)? This one has 7! Double the hold. The extra padded shoulder straps are not adjustable; I would have loved if they were. However, adjustments aren’t really needed. The fit is excellent. While wearing this bra, yours breasts will still move around (after all, a Sport Bra does not turn them into bricks), but now while they’re in motion, it will be a painless experience.

Purpose:  Wear this piece as a cool top while working out. Wear this piece underneath your t-shirts on those casual/ lounge days (because you STILL/ ALWAYS need a bra on!
