Ceejaye's BeYOUty Corner: Beauty and the Heat

Beauty & The Heat
Ways to Stay Gorgeous in the Dog Days of Summer

With Summer finally here, it's time to shed the sweaters, and let the sunshine in! Here are several beauty tips that will keep you looking sweet ... even in the intense heat!

Lighten Up

Skip thick foundations and save your cream lipsticks for fall. Instead, opt for makeup with a lighter texture. Tinted moisturizers, cheek stains, bronzing gels, and lip gloss will wear better in the heat, and keep you looking fresh. DON’T FORGET TO PRIME THAT FACE!

Glow Girl

A shimmery bronzer instantly adds a sexy, healthy sheen to skin -- but don't stop at your face. Still waiting for the rest of your body to tan? Use a big fluffy body brush to blend powder highlighter along your collarbone, decolletage, shoulders, and legs.

Chill Out

Splash your face with cold water before applying makeup. It shrinks pores and stops perspiration, helping foundation go on smoothly. Refresh skin by spritzing an equal amount of water and witch hazel on your face and neck. It's stimulating and helps absorb oil."

Scrub It Away
Summer skin is exposed skin. Exposed skin means tanned skin. This leads to intense dead skin cell generation, and if not properly exfoliated, flaky patches. Gross. Alternate between daily use of chemical and mechanical exfoliation. It leaves a radiant glow. Try St. Ives Apricot Scrub for face, and a Buf-Puf or scrubbing granules for body.

Protect Your Tresses
Before and after the pool, comb regular sunscreen mixed with leave-in conditioner through your strands; this forms a barrier that prevents chlorine and salt water from stripping color and drying out hair.
