Ceejaye's BeYOUty Corner - BROW BASICS 101 - #AllThingsBeYOUty

Brow Basics 101:

Oh, the great eyebrow debate. So many options, hella instructions, Youtube videos galore. I’m SURE that in the malay of browsing the internet and watching reality television, you’ve stumbled across some great, not so great, and even downright TRAGIC eyebrows. Allow me to guide you to the light. Your eyebrows will make or break your look, so if you take nothing from my posts, listen up. Here is a handy-dandy guide on how to achieve the best brows EVER!

1. Clean it UP!

Before you even TOUCH a product, eyebrow grooming is a MUST. Yes, even if you want a “full” brow, they still need to be groomed & shaped. If you have no experience in shaping your brows, or don’t know how to determine your brow shape, consider going to a professional brow grooming location to have them properly shaped. Threading, waxing, and razor are the primary methods of grooming that won’t damage the skin. Personally, I recommend threading. You may want to even ask the groomer questions on how to maintain your brows between appointments should you decide to continue professional appointments.

2. In Living Color

Make sure your eyebrow pencil is the correct shade for you. Go for a color the same or a shade lighter than your natural hair. Yes, you can color match to dyed hair, but be careful. Koolaid red, or purple brows on a job interview is not exactly the best cosmetic move. Word to the wise: brows should NEVER EVER EVERRRRRRR be black. Not NEVAH. I don’t care what pintrest or instagram said. Just don’t do it. K?

3. Fill ‘er Up

Okay, here is where things get tricky. When beginning to fill in brows, make sure that you use a pencil that is SHARP. A dull pencil will not read on the face as well as a sharpened one. Fill in the brows with either pencil or brow filler using SMALL, HAIR-LIKE STROKES. DO NOT DRAW YOUR ARCH. It does NOT look natural, it in fact looks harsh on the face. Natural brows begin sparse at the base, and dense up towards the midpoint & arch. This is the way that brows should be filled in. the block thing in the beginning? BIG NO-NO.  Brush product in the beginning of the brows as they need, but try not to over-fill. The tip of the brow should narrow to a clean point at the end, regardless of how full the brows are.

4. Clean it up

Clean up lines & mistakes from filling in brows with a Q-Tip. Load up a Q-Tip with makeup remover or baby oil. Gently, trace the arch neatly, erasing any outside lines. Concealer is OPTIONAL, but concealer needs to be TRUE TO TONE. Not a lighter. EVER. NOT NEVER. You hear me? Do NOT put concealer ANY shade other then yours around your eyebrows. You will look surprised, alarmed, and well…. just STRANGE…..*deep breath* okay. I’m back.

5. Seal the Deal

Last step to make in this process is to seal those perfectly laid brows. A clear brow gel s the trick beautifully. Lightly brush the brows in place with the clear brow gel and lay hairs in place. THis will also help to remove excess product without ruining all that hard work.
