Cori Coren Spring 2014: Maxi Lookbook

Maxi dresses are the perfect, feminine garment for this season.  They are generally fitted at the top and looser at the bottom, draping over the entire body. Like any piece, there are different types for different occasions (color, pattern, cut) but they all share similar features.

When choosing your dress, keep in mind it's not a one-length fits all type of situation. Your maxi is too long and should be hemmed if it's dragging the floor, however, if it's too short (above the ankle) it will having a minimizing effect on your height. Comfort is my main reason for loving this particular type of garment, they're simple to throw on for on-the-go tasks with sandals or can be dressed up with a pair of cute wedges.

With many types of sexy, chic dresses, you're stuck tugging at them all night to stop the rise. You'll never have this problem, maxi dresses flow. Clingy maxis will flow off your curves, looser dresses will flow in the wind (perfect for the warm, breezy weather). Striped H&M Maxi Skirt 

I purchased this skirt in store in the Fall of 2013 as it began to cool down. It was on the clearance rack for $15 with an additional 50% off, making it only $7.50. I originally paired it with a printed halter top (tucked in) creating the illusion of a dress. This technique will allow you to get plenty of wear from a single garment. 

Over the weekend I casually paired this transparent, chiffon skirt with my floral/ striped fatkini as a cover up. Some women are insecure about walking around in their swimwear, a breezy maxi skirt is the perfect piece to top your swimsuit until you actually get in the water.
