CeeJaye's BeYOUty Corner: "You Look Like Your Mother!"

In honor of Mother’s Day, here are some of the best beauty secrets that our moms were more than likely taught by our grannies…. recognize any?

1. Lemony Nails - If your natural nails are stained from constantly skipping the basecoat before applying polish, reach for a lemon! Rub a fresh wedge of lemon to the nailbed to whiten tips, and soften your cuticles. Sounds crazy, but it works!

2. Cucumber Lids - Vamp life catching up? Place two slices of fresh cucumber over eyes and kick back on the sofa. The coolness and moisture will instantly calm puffiness and soothe tired eyes. When in doubt, warm milk & a brownie can also substitute should that not help you fall asleep quick enough. Just saying.

3. Spill the tea - Peppermint tea is an excellent natural astringent. Brew a peppermint teabag, let it cool and soak the tea in a clean, plain white cloth before applying to your face as a toner.

4. Salty Soak - Body banged up from that workout? Work on your feet? Then the words “Epsom Salt” will be your new BFF from here on out. One cup of Epsom helps sooth tired muscles, and softens skin. Mix in about 10 drops of essential oil if you prefer to get fancy.

5. Ice It Down - Ice isn’t just to reduce bruising. Rubbing one ice cube on your face until it melts nightly, will help keep skin refreshed. This helps to also keep fat cells stimulated, therefore reducing wrinkles, bacteria & acne.

6. Take it Off - Remove makeup with body cream when you’re out of wipes. It contains some of the same ingredients as removal wipes, and is just as gentle on skin.

7. Olive Juice You Too… - Olive Oil will change your LIFE. Rub it in your skin, put in your bath water, use it in your hair. cook with it, I could write another post JUST on the greatness of olive oil.  Just buy yourself a case load, keep it handy & thank me in like 10 more years when you’re still getting carded at the bar.
