Dashiki Chic LookBook (feat. Bagz n Ragz)

Dashiki (dah-shee-key) is a loose-fitting shirt often with detailed embroidery patterns around the neck, chest, and sleeve lines. The shapes of the neckline may vary, but it's often v-shaped.

Originating in West Africa, Dashikis made their way to the American market during the African-American political and cultural struggles during the civil rights movement. Many African-American icons wore the garment to depict a sense of pride in their African Heritage.  The Dashiki fashion was perceived by society to be different in that, it had a relaxed fit, was versatile, vibrant, and opposite of any other style during that time.

Over five decades later, in the midst of  the #BlackLivesMatter era and all of the "noise" millennials are now making demanding equal rights and justice for all ... the Dashiki is STILL flourishing. It's still an honorary garment symbolizing who we are, where we came from, where we're going, and WE are rocking it out!
